Longs pay shorts or shorts pay longs, settled against the mark price every hour the position is open.

1% maintenance margin. Long: entry x (1 - 1/lev + 0.01). Short: entry x (1 + 1/lev - 0.01).
Orders are signed, not sent.
Your wallet signs a plain-text order with its ed25519 key. No transaction, no token approval, nothing leaves the wallet. The signature is the order, and a close is signed the same way from the same page.
